A5 Rangers 5 mile time trial

Me just after the finish

Today was the A5 Rangers 5 mile time trial and I got a 5th place with a time of 13:25. And my second time trial with the A5 they sent me off second again and so after a few miles I caught my minute man and passed them so I knew was going to be the fastest back for a little while. The couse today was very windy most of the time it was not a tail wind but on the way back it was a bit faster than on he way out. By the time I got to the finish the time keeper was running to the finish to get there in time for me to cross the line.

Victoria park race 2

me out on the break away

The second race of the day was 35km and this started out a little slower than the first race so as the adrenaline got going I went out on a break away, maybe it was something to do with my club mate braking away and winning in the race before but I tried and got to the leaders and did my turn at the front and then the main group caught us and I just stayed with the group for the rest of the race. in the middle of the race I was keeping up near the front of the group but on the last lap as they sped up I had nothing left in the legs so I came in just off the back of the main group but not last over the line.

Victoria park race 1

Today was the first of two races at Victoria park, this race was 25km and fairly quick. I managed to stay with the main group all the way till the end today and avoided crashing. During this race there was only one crash that I know of and that happened near the end (about a few laps left), this crash was by me but luckily I just rode round it this week and got to the finish line. I finished in the main group a bit towards the back but I did not break my bike this week.

Milton keynes bowl Starter Race 2

Today was a wet and windy race at milton keynes bowl, Today I only got lapped once and that was after 20 mins of racing so I did 2 laps by myself and when the main group came past I sped up and stayed there till the end of the race. Not much happened during the race, a few tried to break away on several occasions but got pulled back. As we charged for the finish line there was a crash in front of me and I was going to go left around it but the man and his bike slid to the left as well, So I slammed on the brakes and had nearly stopped when some came flying past me and clipped my rear mech hanger and snapped it clean off.

I was one of the lucky ones in that crash because I did not hit the ground or hurt my self but I was expecting to go over the bars, however others where not so lucky, someone was laying on the ground with a bike on top of him. Another guy was standing on the grass and it looked like he had broken his finger because it was pointing in a different direction to what it should be. After I looked to see if me and my bike were OK (I was fine, the bike not so much) I walked up to the finish line and can say at least I crossed the finish line.

The only damage to the bike

Banbury Star CC hard riders

Today was a 23 mile time trial including sun rising hill (16% and bloody long) and a few smaller hills, this was my first time trial of the year and the first time I ever raced on this course. While riding today I warmed up well and once out on course I felt very good and I was over taken by number 30 just at the top of sun rising hill and followed him down the hill to help me pick a good line, bit further down the course I overtook a rider just as the road sloped down a bit. Out near the turn around point there was a lot of cars but I managed to not get slowed down by any of them. On the way back it was very hard because it was a bit of a cross wind and head wind and it kept changing. Going up sun rising I struggled up there but over took some one and that helped me to make it to the top. After sun rising I slowly picked up speed and pushed hard to the end of the course and just over the line I passed another rider.

Milton keynes bowl starter race 1

First race of the year today at Milton Keynes bowl as a 3rd cat racing with the big boys (men). Today's race was an hour plus 5 laps and very fast. There were three crashes but luckily I managed to avoid them even though I had to go over the grass to get round one of them. I was a bit disappointed to get lapped but once warmed up got back in the main group and stayed with them to the end. Found out about moving around within the group and once I put this into practice it was a lot better. After a few laps in the group I found I was keeping up with them without huge effort and could have sprinted faster at the end but it would have been a waste of energy because I could not have contested it. Happy to know that by the end of the race I was not last and had lapped other people.
